Sources of further help and information

If for any reason you need help or further advice you should find useful pointers in this section.

This section is divided up into a number of headings which may make it easier for you to find the help that you need.

  • Finding an agency to help you
Look for agencies that can help you with your search for adoption records, provide counselling and advice on tracing and making contact with birth or adoptive relatives, and act as intermediaries on your behalf. These agencies can be either local authorities, voluntary adoption agencies or adoption support agencies.
  • Recommended reading
In this section, you will find references to publications about different aspects of adoption, search and reunion, including the books that have been mentioned elsewhere on this website. A short description of what each book is about is also included.
  • Useful websites
This section contains links to a number of different organisations that you might find useful. It includes links to adoption contact registers, General Registrar Offices and post adoption organisations.
